The workplan of Greener Project - European research program

greener
Leader: UBU

This work package sets out the 'ethics requirements' that the project must comply with.:

4 Deliverable (D1.1-1.4)
Leader: UBU

Project management, organizational support, and communication with the consortium and the European Commission. In addition, identification of project risks and contingency plans, in order to ensure project completion within the agreed time schedule and budget.

4 Deliverables (D2.1-2.4), 1 Milestone (MS1)
Leader: UBU

In this work package, appropriate contaminated sites at different locations in Europe and China will be selected. The mixture and concentration of contaminants and autochthonous microbial communities in the impacted sites will be identified and characterised. This information will be used to evaluate the relevant physico-chemical factors of the contaminated sites that might negatively or positively influence the bioremediation processes. Potentially pathogenic microorganisms will be identified while evaluating techniques for their elimination without affecting the non-pathogenic microbial community. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the evaluation of treatment efficacy and bioremediation protocols will be defined.

8 Deliverables (D3.1-3.8), 3 Milestones (MS2,3,4)
Leader: LEITAT

Here, novel phycoremediation and phytoremediation approaches will be used for enhancing the removal of dyes and potentially toxic metals, respectively. Bio-electrochemical systems for TPHs, pesticides, antibiotics and PAHs removal will be developed, along with a novel technology for metal removal in the form of nanoparticles. An integrated system for effective groundwater bioremediation will be compiled, supported by the definition of operation conditions for the scale-up.

6 Deliverables (D4.1-4.6), 3 Milestones (MS 5,6,7)
Leader: UBAH

In this work package, biostimulation and bioaugmentation technologies will be improved for soil remediation, i.e. a combination of phytoremediation with biostimulation/bioaugmentation technology (Ecopile) and bio-electrochemical systems (BES). Operation conditions for the scale-up will also be deifned.

7 Deliverables (D4.1-4.7), 3 Milestones (MS 8,9,10)
Leader: ACCIONA

Here, parameters for scaling-up the optimum technologies developed in previous WPs will be defined for the application of the technologies at pilot and real scale. Pilot scale experiments of water and soil treatment will be developed in selected locations along with a decision-making tool for the selection of the technologies that will be implemented in polluted environments. The selected technologies will be developed at real scale in selected locations, such as the machinery park located in Noblejas (Spain), polluted soils in Ireland and China (MIB, SDAS), and various sites provided by TAUW. The performance of the pilot and real scale case studies will be monitored through ecotoxicological evaluation.

5 Deliverables (D6.1-6.5), 3 Milestones (MS11, 12, 13)
Leader: VERTECH

  • To study the economic feasibility and market potential of the different technologies. To compare these technologies with other existing technologies.
  • To ensure the feasibility of the project solution through a techno-economic analysis.
  • To quantify and evaluate any effects to the environment caused by the integrated bioremediation technology proposed by GREENER.
  • To determine the CAPEX and OPEX at the different stages of project and to guarantee cost-effectiveness and competitiveness of the proposed solution.
  • To identify and assess social aspects and overcome any possible related issues, including those that might arise from any cultural differences.
  • To identify and mitigate any project’s risks by performing an effective risk assessment.
  • To identify and assess potential regulatory and legal barriers and find the solutions to overcome them .
5 Deliverables (D7.1-7.5), 2 Milestones (MS 14,15)
Leader: SIE

  • Raise awareness in the industrial and scientific community and disseminate advancements and news to stakeholders, public authorities, and citizens.
  • Achieve widespread and high-quality access to project updates, results and related developments through the project website, news, social media and additional outlets and promote products and services to a wide audience through the participation at fairs and specialized exhibitions
  • Raise awareness on the innovative approach of bioremediations through the publication of articles in relevant professional journals, popular publications and news articles.
